A woman's final words as she lay dying helped investigators to convict her husband for her murder.

Fawziyah Javed, a 31-year-old British attorney, sadly lost her life on Arthur's Seat, a hillside in the Scottish city of Edinburgh, after being pushed.

Javed's life was cut short while she was 17 weeks pregnant, after a hiking trip with her husband, Kashif Anwar, took a horrifying turn. What started as a seemingly ordinary day on the cliffs ended in a fall that claimed both her and her unborn child's lives, as reported by the Mirror.

During the trial that ensued, witnesses painted a harrowing picture of abuse and manipulation within the couple’s relationship.

The documentary The Push: Murder on a Cliff, now streaming on Channel 4 in the U.K., delves deep into the courtroom drama that unfolded during Anwar's trial.

Born into a close-knit family of British Pakistanis, Javed's upbringing instilled in her a sense of resilience. However, her marriage to Anwar quickly turned into a nightmare of manipulation and violence.

Anwar's facade of charm and charisma quickly dissolved behind closed doors, revealing a pattern of abuse that escalated as the marriage progressed.

As instances of abuse escalated, Javed reached out to authorities, although she refrained from pressing charges, seeking instead to document her husband's aggression, per the Huffington Post.

The recordings were playing in court, which showed the extent of Anwar's abuse. "Who do you think you are?" he demanded in one clip. "You’re not a man... so come back tomorrow like you’ve been told. Do not be that 'British woman'" — meaning an independent woman who enjoyed autonomy outside her marriage.

"You’re a disease in everyone’s life," he said in another call. "The sooner you’re dead, the sooner you’re out of my life. It’ll be better."

Tragically, her efforts to break free from the cycle of abuse were cut short in September 2021.

As the details of her final moments emerged during the trial, it became clear that her death was not an accident, but a culmination of years of torment at the hands of her husband.
